Effectiveness of RADYPOL Software in the Management of Topographic Knowledge in Higher Education

Introduction or Problem Statement. The review of academic work in higher education has become a tedious task in some curricular activities. Specialized software, both free and paid, can streamline these repetitive tasks, allowing instructors to save time reviewing and analyzing student calculations and procedures. This ensures the quality of collected topographic field data and provides immediate feedback. Therefore, the explosion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) demands new digital skills and competencies for accessing information and generating new knowledge. Similarly, pedagogical innovation is needed to diversify educational training practices (Velasco Sánchez, 2024; Mancinas et al., 2020).
Objective. Consequently, the objective was established: To implement RADYPOL V1.0 software in the training of surveying skills: A case study of students in the Civil Engineering Technology program at the Faculty of Distance Learning of the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia.
Methodology. The research design was qualitative-descriptive. RADYPOL V1.0 software was implemented in the academic training of 15 students enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology program, specifically within the teaching-learning process of the Surveying curriculum. The software facilitates data entry, processing, and the generation of a PDF with the information necessary to determine parameters such as areas and perimeters.
Results. The software proved effective by allowing students to input data collected in the field. The data was then processed and displayed in PDF format, containing the information necessary to determine the minimum required parameters.
Conclusions. For teachers, it saved time reviewing data calculations and developing practical exercises. Similarly, for students, it allowed them to verify their calculations and learn the study procedure in an easy, dynamic, and interactive way.
