Financial education is a decisive variable in the development and sustainability of productive units in any region. Therefore, it is crucial to efficiently manage financial skills in order to make sound decisions that maximize the value of organizations.
In this context, the agricultural sector in the Ariari region is a fundamental pillar of the local economy, contributing significantly to the socioeconomic development of its communities. However, agricultural producers face multiple financial challenges that compromise the sustainability and growth of their production units. In this context, the lack of access to financial education limits strategic decision-making in key areas such as resource management, investment, access to credit, and risk management.
This problem is exacerbated by external factors such as the volatility of input prices in international markets, fluctuations in the Representative Market Rate (TRM), and the region's own climatic and environmental risks. Without solid financial knowledge, many farmers struggle to plan their investments, optimize production costs, and mitigate the economic impacts of these variations. Given this scenario, it is crucial to analyze the role of financial education in the economic improvement of farmers in the Ariari region. Understanding this relationship will allow for the implementation of effective strategies to strengthen producers' financial capabilities, improve their competitiveness, and promote sustainable economic development in the region.
Considering the problem presented, the general objective of this research proposal is to analyze the role of financial education in the economic improvement of farmers in the Ariari region, in order to identify strategies that strengthen producers' financial decision-making and contribute to the sustainability and growth of the sector. To achieve the main objective of this research, the following specific objectives are proposed:
To diagnose the level of knowledge of farmers in the Ariari region regarding financial education and its applicability to sector decisions.
To characterize the financial education strategies and programs that strengthen farmers' economic capacities and skills.
To implement financial education strategies that promote the sustainable economic development of agricultural production units in the Ariari region. To propose an econometric model identifying the key variables for financial success in agricultural production units in the Ariari region.
To achieve the objectives of this research, a mixed-methods approach will be used, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Different study phases will be developed to analyze the influence of financial education on the economic development of the agricultural sector in the Ariari region and to formulate strategies that strengthen producers' financial decision-making.
Phase 1: Diagnosis of the level of financial education. Design of data collection instrument: Structured surveys will be developed for agricultural producers to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding financial education. Application of the instrument: Surveys will be administered to a representative sample of agricultural producers in the Ariari region. Analysis of results: Descriptive statistical techniques will be used to identify patterns and trends in the level of financial education among farmers.
Phase 2: Characterization of financial education strategies and programs. Document review: National and international experiences with financial education applied to the agricultural sector will be analyzed. Interviews with experts: Interviews will be conducted with specialists in financial education and agricultural development to identify effective strategies and programs. Strategy selection: Based on the findings, the most appropriate strategies will be identified to strengthen the economic capacities of producers.
Phase 3: Implementation of financial education strategies. Design of pilot programs: A training plan with content adapted to the needs of farmers will be defined. Plan execution: Workshops and training sessions will be held in the Ariari region. Impact evaluation: Surveys and interviews will be conducted after implementation to measure the impact on producers' financial knowledge and decision-making.
Phase 4: Proposal of an econometric model. Data collection and processing: Quantitative data on income, expenses, investments, and access to financing will be collected.
