Abstract

Currently, the economic situation for university students is challenging, with low levels of financial literacy and a lack of knowledge on how to generate income. More than 50% of students don't know how to manage a budget or plan for extra income due to a lack of time in their studies. According to an article published in August 2023 by Daniela Konietzko, president of the WWB Colombia Foundation, the FinDev Portal reported that... Only one-fifth of students, on average, lack basic financial skills, meaning they cannot apply their knowledge to real-life situations involving financial decisions, warns the article “Financial Education in the Young Population,” Colombian Journal of Education, No. 89, pp. 148-180 (2022), National Pedagogical University of Colombia. Based on the above, the research question for this study is: How can the use of artificial intelligence (AI) through various applications improve economic decision-making among ADFU students at the Minuto de Dios University Corporation, Eastern Campus?
General Objective: To analyze how the use of artificial intelligence (AI) through different applications can optimize personal finance management among ADFU students at the Minuto de Dios University Corporation, Eastern Campus. To characterize the ADFU students in order to understand their financial status and their level of knowledge regarding tools to increase their profitability. Identify the artificial intelligence (AI) tools and applications available for personal finance management. Disseminate information about AI tools for personal finance management.

Methodology. This research proposal employs a mixed-methods approach (Sampieri, 2014), with a descriptive and exploratory scope (Lerma, 2016), using techniques such as surveys and interviews with a population of 100 students from the ADFU program at the Minuto de Dios University Corporation – Eastern Campus.

Expected Results. A profile of ADFU program students will be developed. Research will be conducted on available financial tools and platforms for managing finances. The financial tools identified will be shared to improve students' quality of life.
